My mother, Claire and I co-designed this piece. As you likely know, I name my jewelry after women who inspire me. Together, my mom and I named this shell "Bernadette" after the Leonard Cohen and Jennifer Warnes song, "Song of Bernadette". Have you hear it? I dare you to listen to it and not cry.

Lyrics:
"So many hearts I find, broke like yours and mine
Torn by what we've done and can't undo
I just want to hold you, come on let me hold you
Like Bernadette would do"

The song refers to a young French girl in the mid-19th century who claimed to have seen the Virgin Mary on several occasions. I'm not a religious person, but this song hits me to my core. It felt appropriate since this song speaks of love that we name a heart-shaped shell after Bernadette.
